..it's the newest campaign the entire crew is doing stories about here at News 3. If you watch News 3 at 9, My Madison T.V., on channel 14; you probably already know we've been reporting on the green movement every Friday since April. Now you'll see special segments on every newscast, as well as a "green" section on our web-site: channel 3000; and our sister publication, Madison Magazine. is also all green for its September edition.
The hope is to provide simple, fun ideas you can try to make your life eco-friendly.
One story I'm covering (you'll also find a brief article in Madison Magazine) is on the Madison
Environmental Group. It's started full circle furniture; a branch of the group hoping to reclaim and reuse old doors from buildings being torn down in the area. (Example: the group is recycling more than 200 doors from the old Meriter Hospital deconstruction site downtown.)
The doors are then being turned into really beautiful tables, benches, desks, carts, etc. It's all done for you but costs around $700-$2000.
But by the end of September; the group will have "do it yourself" instructions for sale---- to walk you through the process of refurbishing an old door.
Pretty cool stuff! And we are talking about items that are incredibly heavy, durable, long lasting with a story behind it to boot!
