EARTH "DAY" GOES BEYOND...
..what I remember as a child in Northeast Wisconsin. The "day" was dedicated to picking up garbage in a small effort to save the environment.
Now; I talk with people finding ways to turn the "day" into days.
And in many cases it's part of their life--- 365-days-a-year!
Our "Tomorrow's Trend" report is concentrating on this growing idea; from one woman who reuses shopping bags to help relieve the burden of packaging and recycling..
to an employee at a local store who says he's trying to help the planet by sharing idea's on reducing carbon weight; not only with his children, but with any customers who will listen and want to give it a try.
Here are a few tips Whole Foods Marketing Specialist Brad Bohlen shared with me:
1) Go "green" when you clean
Look for eco-friendly products
2) Get involved
One person can make a difference
3) Buy recycled
Search for products made from recycled materials
4) Reduce hot water use
Wash in cold or warm water
5) Start a compost pile
Landfill space is quickly filling
6) Overhaul your office
Switch to "green" supplies
7) Recycle more
It saves carbon dioxide
8) Choose your food like it matters
Purchase products from those supporting the health of the planet
9) Reuse your bags
It takes a 15-year old tree to produce 700 bags
10)Quench with respect
Recycle or reuse water bottles
I'm in no way an absolute "greenie" but am enjoying making the attempt and feeling good about it.

"Faith, food and Earth Day" is also being celebrated on Sunday, from 3-6 p.m. at Lake Edge Lutheran Church on Monona Drive.
Just a few of the interesting sites and events I've heard good things about here.
And I invite you to take some time and tell me if you have special plans or look at the "day" as part of your life.
Cheers!
