NEWS 3 @ 9 STARTS IN 3 WEEKS....

And behind the scenes; things are picking up in anticipation of our show on UPN-14.
New staff is being added to our News 3 family--- everyone from camera operators and editors to the show producer.
It's our way of making sure we can provide you with the best 9 P.M. News product in the market.
We're also evaluating your comments about what you'd like to see in this newscast. Many of you are responding to my question via this blog---- and in an upcoming posting; I'll share some of your thoughts!
We're also coming off a very busy week; news-wise in this area. I reported live at 10 p.m. Tuesday from the Iowa County site where several undercover drug officers were shot at during an investigation... luckily no one was hurt.
We never imagined that would just be the start.
Wednesday; a fire destroyed Christ Lutheran Church and School in Stoughton. I talked with some people at the church; who'd never been part of any other congregation. But by that same evening, we learned plans are already being made to rebuild.
Talk about resolve!
Thursday; as most of you know, an F-3 Tornado slammed into the area North of Stoughton..
Viola, in Richland County; as well as Sauk City, in Sauk County also ended up being hit hard.
Since then we've seen what seems to be the best in people--- volunteers coming in from
all over the Midwest.. emergency workers; with their own homes destroyed, still helping their neighbors.. and the amazing attitude of so many simply saying "we're alive.. we can rebuild."
There was one human tragedy after the storms rolled away.
We send our thoughts to the family of Harold Orlofske who died doing the right thing---
trying to save himself from the tornado.

I've been a journalist for more than 16-years.. and every week there are things that remind me why I do this. This past week was one of those.
